There are many places to eat out in North Wales. From a country inn, through to an award-winning cafe in a shopping mall, there’s a huge variety to choose from. Many of these fine dining experiences use the freshest of local produce. Welsh lamb and beef feature prominently as does freshly caught fish such as salmon, brown trout, white crab and lobsters. Vegetarian preferences are also well catered for with organic fruit and vegetable producers in the area. The area’s farmhouse dairy tradition is reflected in a plentiful supply of speciality Welsh cheeses e.g. Old Shire, Monterey Jack, and Caws Coch Llyn – each with a definitive and different taste. Mature, full flavoured cheddar cheeses come in a traditionally shaped truckle from South Caernarfon creameries. Locally produced Cadwalader’s ice cream, first produced in Criccieth in the 1920’s, is now available in ice cream parlours throughout the region – a must to try.
